Daemons of the Shadow Realm Episode 13: Ivan Yosano really is too strong; Tsugai voice actors revealed, drawing reactions like "The sense that they're no ordinary beings is amazing..." and "That's god-tier"

The anime “Daemons of the Shadow Realm,” based on the latest work by Hiromu Arakawa—the hit manga artist known for “Fullmetal Alchemist”—began airing its second cour on July 4. In Episode 13, the first episode of the second cour, “Magatsuhi,” the Tsugai that Ivan Yosano (voiced by Shin’ichiro Miki) has a contract with, spoke its first lines.

The first cour ended on the tense development of Ivan attacking Higashi Village. In the following Episode 13, “Daikyo and Shokyo,” Ivan wields a large and a small blade, cutting down the villagers one after another. In the process, it is revealed that the blades Ivan wields are actually Tsugai, possessing an ability akin to spatial teleportation. It also becomes clear that their names are “Daikyo” and “Shokyo.”

Shokyo has quite a rebellious personality and calls Ivan a “monkey.” When Ivan chides it—“Hey. Do you get which of us is the master?”—Shokyo shoots back without backing down: “Don’t talk back! I’ll filet you into three, monkey!” Daikyo, on the other hand, seems to be the silent type: even when Ivan asks it to “say something to this guy (Shokyo),” it merely grunts “Hmph” and looks away.

Daikyo and Shokyo are voiced by voice actors Misato Fukuen and Hiroyuki Yoshino, respectively. With such headline-level popular voice actors lined up, social media is abuzz with reactions like “Magatsuhi being played by Fukuen and Yoshino is just divine,” “The Tsugai casting is broken as usual~~~ way too lavish lol,” “The sense that they’re no ordinary beings is incredible…,” and “Daikyo’s voice is way cuter than I expected—it totally caught me off guard.” Comments marveling anew at Ivan’s strength were also posted, such as “So Ivan’s Tsugai can not only slash but also teleport through space? That’s a cheat ability…” and “Ivan is just way too OP.”
