[Photos/Images] "Mari is so cute," "The sense of dynamism is amazing": Reaction to Hidenori Matsubara's beautiful drawing of three characters in plugsuits from "Evangelion" 1st

On the official "Evangelion" X account, the completion of animator Hidenori Matsubara's live-drawing session at the 30th anniversary exhibition "ALL OF EVANGELION" was announced, sparking enthusiasm among fans.

The post conveyed that the "Hidenori Matsubara Live-Drawing Session" was successfully completed at the exhibition held at the Iwate venue (Morioka Civic Cultural Hall). The finished artwork is scheduled to be displayed at the exhibition starting the following day, July 19, with a call encouraging visitors to come and view it during the event's run at the venue.

In the published photo, Matsubara is seen standing next to a large canvas board he drew himself. Depicted on the canvas in plugsuits are Mari Makinami Illustrious (CV: Maaya Sakamoto), Asuka Langley Shikinami (CV: Yūko Miyamura), and Rei Ayanami (CV: Megumi Hayashibara). The characters, expressed with delicate line art, are positioned in a composition that seems to fill the entire frame, with the artist's signature and the date written in the lower-left corner of the illustration.

The anime "Evangelion" is a hit original anime series depicting the battle between boys and girls who pilot giant human-type multipurpose humanoid decisive weapons and mysterious enemies known as "Angels." Since the broadcast of the TV series, it has created a social phenomenon, and the later released "Rebuild of Evangelion" movie series also captivated many fans and achieved massive box-office success. To this day, it continues to actively expand across a wide range of media mixes including film adaptations and games, with its world building and characters long loved both in Japan and overseas.

In response to this post, many comments praising the quality of the completed illustration poured in from fans, such as "Mari is so cute," "The sense of dynamism is amazing!", "Wonderful...", and "As expected, I love Hidenori Matsubara-sensei's illustrations."
