Life-Size Unicorn Gundam Statue to End Exhibition on August 31, Fans Turn Out for Emotional Final Ceremony

The life-size Unicorn Gundam statue is set to end its exhibition on Monday, August 31. Since it went on display in 2017 at the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza Festival Plaza, its powerful design and the precise mechanism that lets it "transform" from Unicorn Mode to Destroy Mode have drawn attention, turning it into a landmark that attracts visitors from Japan and abroad alike.

Starting Saturday, June 20, the statue was given a new look as the "RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver. TWC FINAL," featuring new markings by Hajime Katoki. Then, from Saturday, August 22, a special presentation titled "UNICORN GUNDAM Statue ― BEYOND POSSIBILITY ―" began, syncing the life-size Unicorn Gundam statue with "WALL-G," the video projection displayed on the wall of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.

Then, on August 29, the final Saturday of the exhibition period, the "Life-Size Unicorn Gundam Statue Final Ceremony" was held to thank the fans and visitors who had supported the statue.

Despite the somewhat unstable weather, with light rain continuing to fall, a large number of fans turned out to witness the statue's final form, filling the venue with excitement. After the life-size Unicorn Gundam statue transformed into Destroy Mode in time with the opening movie, voice actor Genki Okawa, who served as MC, greeted the crowd from a special booth in front of the statue, kicking off the ceremony.
