The anime "New KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops" is set to be broadcast and streamed on Fuji TV and various platforms in 2027. A key visual and a promotional video featuring the first reveal of the character voices have also been released, drawing significant attention to the new voice cast announcement.

This work is a new anime project launched in 2025 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original gag manga "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikōen-mae Hashutsujo" by Osamu Akimoto. The slapstick, heartwarming gag comedy centered around the unconventional, money-loving police officer Kankichi Ryotsu and his colleagues in Kameari, Katsushika Ward, is getting an anime adaptation once again.

With the project now in full swing, the new cast for the police box members and the staff have been unveiled all at once. The roles will be newly voiced by Fukushi Ochiai as Kankichi Ryotsu, Shouta Aoi as Keiichi Nakagawa, M・A・O as Reiko Akimoto, and Raikou Sakamoto as Daijiro Ohara.

Regarding the cast announcement, Ochiai (Ryotsu) expressed his joy, saying, "My heart was so full of happiness just being able to breathe in the world of 'KochiKame'!" Aoi (Nakagawa) hyped the show: "Please look forward to seeing how that chaotic comedy unfolds in the modern era!" M・A・O (Reiko) commented, "I think you'll be able to fully enjoy this dynamic slapstick drama," while Sakamoto (Chief Ohara), despite feeling the pressure, shared his resolve: "I've braced myself, knowing I just have to bet on the live energy when recording together with everyone else."

Akitaro Daichi will serve as the director, with animation production handled by Gallop. Director Daichi showed his confidence, stating, "There are still plenty of gags with a strong Showa-era flavor throughout the series... and I feel like saying, 'Leave it to me!'" He added, "All of our staff members are thrilled to release an anime that will cheer up Japan." Furthermore, original creator Osamu Akimoto shared his excitement for the series returning in the Reiwa era, commenting, "While the art has evolved to look modern, it's as fun as ever with the same impactful visuals," and "It makes me happy to see that the same lively police box crew has returned."

In response to this announcement, social media has been flooded with comments such as, "Aoi-kun is totally Nakagawa," "M・A・O-chan is just so cute," "I have especially high expectations for Raikou Sakamoto as the Chief," and "I'm eagerly waiting for the broadcast with high expectations for Ryo-san's rampage."

The new cast announcement took place on September 5 during the event "Anime 'New KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops' New Cast Announcement Event ~Commencement! Reiwa KochiKame Operation~", and an archived stream is currently available on the Jump Channel on YouTube.
