"Maomao's Atelier?": The Apothecary Diaries Gets First-Ever Video Game With All-New Story by Hyuganatsu, Fans React "The Deduction Gameplay Sounds Fun"

The first-ever console game based on the TV anime The Apothecary Diaries, titled The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother, was announced on September 10 for a release in early 2027. On social media, excited reactions poured in right away, with comments such as "So it's basically Maomao's Atelier?" and "A game based on The Apothecary Diaries? The game is a mystery adventure title featuring an entirely new story conceived by original creator Hyuganatsu. It follows Maomao, a pharmacist raised in the pleasure district with an unusual obsession with poisons and medicine, and Jinshi, a mysterious and handsome administrator of the inner palace, as they take on a series of difficult cases that arise within the palace. The game is developed by Gust, the brand behind Koei Tecmo Games' many RPGs — including the Atelier series, which has shipped over 8 million units worldwide — in collaboration with TOHO Games, the game business label operated by TOHO Co., Ltd.

Under the concept "That medicine will eventually become poison," the game unfolds a courtly mystery in which medicine and deduction bring everything to light. The "Five Mysteries" and "Five Curses" intertwine, depicting a chain of strange occurrences and conspiracies spreading across the inner palace, the pleasure district, and the capital.
