'The Dangers in My Heart' Ends After Nearly 8 Years, Fans Flood In With "It Was Such a Great Rom-Com" and Thanks

Norio Sakurai's popular comic 'The Dangers in My Heart' reached its final chapter at 10 a.m. on September 15. On social media, messages mourning the series' end and expressing gratitude have poured in, including "It's over. It was such a great rom-com" and "Thank you, thank you so much."

The Dangers in My Heart is a coming-of-age rom-com that has picked up numerous manga awards, including two consecutive wins in the male readers' category of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! and first place in the web manga category of the Next Manga Award 2020. Cumulative sales through the currently available 13th volume have surpassed 7 million copies, and a third season of the TV anime is also set to air in 2027.

Since the series began in 2018, it has been supported by many readers for its portrayal of the budding romance between Kyotaro Ichikawa, an introverted boy prone to typical teenage flights of fancy, and Anna Yamada, the most popular girl at school. After close to eight years of serialization, the story has finally reached its finale. To mark the release of the final chapter, Sakurai has also posted a handwritten message to readers on the special feature page for Champion Cross.

Also to mark the release of the final chapter, a reader-participation "#僕ヤバ祝電 募集キャンペーン" congratulatory-message campaign kicked off the same day. Under the campaign, readers are invited to send messages to The Dangers in My Heart as "congratulatory messages," and some of the messages received will be featured in advertisements and promotional videos produced ahead of the release of the series' final, 14th collected volume on November 6. To take part, quote-repost the official X campaign post and add the hashtag "#僕ヤバ祝電" to your message. The submission period runs until 11:59 p.m. on October 4. In addition, congratulatory illustrations from the artists serialized in Champion Cross have been released, and starting September 22, congratulatory illustrations from the artists serialized in Yan Chan Web will also be published.

Following the conclusion of the long-running series, fans have been flooding social media with heartfelt messages such as "I'm so glad I got to experience The Dangers in My Heart!", "The Dangers in My Heart has become a treasure that will stay in my heart forever," and "Thank you for such a moving story!"
