Yuji Itadori (voiced by Junya Enoki), a high schooler with extraordinary physical abilities, one day eats the Special Grade Cursed Object "Sukuna's Finger" to save a classmate attacked by a curse, thereby inheriting a curse within his own soul. Sharing a body with Ryomen Sukuna (voiced by Junichi Suwabe), the King of Curses, Yuji is introduced by the strongest sorcerer Satoru Gojo (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura) to the Tokyo Jujutsu High School, a specialized organization for fighting curses, and becomes embroiled in battles with manifested cursed spirits.

The original manga has exceeded 90 million copies in total circulation, making it a notable hit from Weekly Shonen Jump, often said to follow the societal phenomenon created by "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba." The first season of the "Jujutsu Kaisen" anime, which began airing in October 2020, was so popular that related keywords dominated Twitter trends with each broadcast.

Attention is not only on the main story of the anime "Jujutsu Kaisen" but also on its songs, which immerse viewers in its world. Just as LiSA's "Gurenge," the opening of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," became a massive hit, the songs of Jujutsu Kaisen are a crucial element in maximizing the appeal of its story, moving viewers through their synergy with the animation.

King Gnu Daiki Tsuneta Comment:
"It's a great honor to be offered the opening theme for Jujutsu Kaisen: Shibuya Incident. I believe we've created a track fitting the rampage of the curses, so please look forward to 'SPECIALZ!' Listen at full blast and let yourself go."

PERIMETRON, Makoto Arai Comment:
"Mixing, madness, writhing.
We imbued the intense, frenzied ensemble drama of the 'Shibuya Incident' into the 'SPECIALZ' artwork.
The limited edition CD has a special physical design, so I hope you'll check it out."

PERIMETRON, OSRIN Comment:
"Tsuneta really understands curses.
No, he himself is on the side of the curses, from the start.
He lives by cursing himself.
Otherwise, he couldn't make a song like that.
We also carefully infused magic into our work.
Makocchan (Makoto Arai) is a cursed corpse.
This is, for me, the best record I've ever made."

Even when you're on the verge of losing, I think this song helps you take that last step forward.

Tatsuya Kitani started his career around 2014 as the Vocaloid producer "Konnichiwa Tanita-san." Recognized for his songwriting talents, he began providing music for other artists in 2017 in addition to his solo activities. He released the opening theme "Seija no Koshin" for the anime "The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace" in 2021, and the opening theme "Scar" for the first cour of "BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War" in 2022. Besides his work as a singer-songwriter, Kitani has also worked prolifically as a support bassist and songwriter.

Upon being selected to compose the opening theme for the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" arc, Kitani released the following comment:

Tatsuya Kitani Comment:
"Days when it felt like nothing blocked my view, that I could go anywhere. Days when, no matter how close 'you' and 'I' were, or how much we focused on the same future, I learned we were ultimately different beings. Days devastated by mistakes I could never make up for, by losses I could never touch again.
Those irreplaceable memories, like the spring of life, I occasionally take out and reflect upon. They shine both with sweet nostalgia and bitter regret, becoming a staff for the heart after I've become an 'adult.' This is a song for people who've walked that path."

"Ichizu"

The theme song for the "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" movie, where Yuta Okkotsu is the protagonist, is "Ichizu," an original track by King Gnu also used in trailers. The title reflects the relationship between Yuta and Rika Orimoto, who died in an accident after promising to marry Yuta as children and became a vengeful spirit.

The lyrics, sung to a driving rock melody, directly express Yuta’s way of life, making it a song that fully embodies both "Jujutsu Kaisen" and King Gnu's style. The official MV, released ahead of the movie on December 10, has been viewed over 80 million times on YouTube, showing immense attention.

"Sakayume"

Written as the ending theme for the "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" movie, "Sakayume" was surprise-announced on Daiki Tsuneta's Twitter on the day of release, December 24. Tsuneta also tweeted, "I made two songs because one alone couldn't fully express Jujutsu Kaisen 0." Unlike the fast-paced "Ichizu," "Sakayume" is a melodious ending that lingers with the story’s aftertaste.

The lyrics evoke not only the relationship between Yuta and Rika but also highlight the bond between Gojo and Suguru Geto. Online, comments like "Pure King Gnu, yet a perfect fit for the story—it made me cry," and "I thought they'd close the credits with 'Ichizu,' but 'Sakayume' took me by surprise and touched me" were shared.

With this being the film adaptation of a hugely anticipated masterpiece, the pressure was intense, but I believe we've made a strong and straightforward track that perfectly fits the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. The relationship between Rika-chan and Yuta Okkotsu is enviably and tragically devoted.
Everyone, please look forward to the release! Thank you so much!"

On December 31, 2022, King Gnu performed at the 73rd NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen for the second time, singing "Stardom."

JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie Theme "Ao no Sumika (Acoustic ver.)"

・"Ao no Sumika (Acoustic ver.)"

Released on May 30, 2025, the theme song for the "Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Compilation Movie" is "Ao no Sumika (Acoustic ver.)" by Tatsuya Kitani. This is an emotional arrangement of the opening theme from Season 2's "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" arc.

Tatsuya Kitani Comment:
"The word 'Ao' (blue) in 'Ao no Sumika' was chosen to represent two contradictory images inherent to the idea of youth. Because the music also followed this, we received many conflicting impressions such as 'It’s a refreshing song' and 'It’s a sad song,' which made me very happy. This time, I aimed to give 'Ao no Sumika' yet another expression. 'Jujutsu Kaisen' is also a work full of depth and mystery, showing many faces depending on the viewer, so I'm happy to be involved once again."

Mobile Game "Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade" Theme Song "Avan" by Eve

"Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade" (abbreviated as "Fanpare") is a mobile game scheduled for simultaneous iOS/Android release in 2022. The theme song "Avan" is sung by Eve, who also performed the first cour opening "Kaikai Kitan." Eve commented, "I created the song with the image that it would be a seamless continuation of 'Kaikai Kitan,' which expresses the world of 'Jujutsu Kaisen.'" The lyrics and melody are thus closely linked to "Kaikai Kitan."

The official music video distributed from Eve’s YouTube channel has about 1.7 million views. The opening movie distributed from the game’s official channel, which features "Avan," has surpassed 5 million views.

"Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade" features an original game story set at "Tokyo Jujutsu High School, Fukuoka Branch (Jujutsu High Fukuoka Branch)." In the opening visuals set to "Avan," game-original characters also appear. This song, embodying the world view of "Jujutsu Kaisen," raises expectations for the game through its visuals.
