The final trailer for Witch on the Holy Night, the latest theatrical anime film set to open on November 20, has been released and is generating buzz.

The film is based on the visual novel PC game developed and published by TYPE-MOON. Kinoko Nasu, the creator of The Garden of Sinners and the Fate series, wrote the scenario, and Hirokazu Koyama, who has long been involved in TYPE-MOON's creative work, handled the graphics. The game drew attention as an orthodox “visual novel” that brought every element a novel game needs, including story, visuals, music, and direction, to the highest level. Its origins lie in an unpublished novel that Kinoko Nasu wrote before the release of Tsukihime.

The newly released trailer features many new cuts and also debuts “Yoru to Ao,” a new song by supercell, who have been announced as the theme song artist. The song's lyrics, composition, and arrangement are by ryo, with vocals by Nagi Yanagi. The same pairing behind the original game's theme song, “Hoshi ga Matataku Konna Yoru ni,” is back to vividly color the film after 16 years. The video shows the everyday life and dynamic battle scenes of Aoko Aozaki, Alice Kuonji, and Sōjūrō Shizuki in fast-paced cuts, offering a glimpse into part of the three characters' story.

A character visual newly drawn by Hirokazu Koyama has also been unveiled. It is a special illustration of Aoko Aozaki and Alice Kuonji, the two witches who symbolize the film, standing back to back. In addition, starting Friday, October 2, advance tickets (Mubichike) featuring two visuals, this character visual and the special key visual unveiled at FGO Fes. 2026 on Saturday, August 1, will go on sale.

Following the announcement, a flood of enthusiastic reactions has appeared on social media, such as “supercell's 'Yoru to Ao'... the title alone is already heartbreaking,” “It's finally here, can't wait for the theme song,” “So the release date is set, I'm so excited for ufotable's animation,” and “I can't believe supercell is back, and with Nagi Yanagi's voice, too.”
