The latest key visual for The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure, which opens on December 11, has been unveiled on the official X account of the anime The Apothecary Diaries, and fans are showering it with praise. The new visual, weighty and full of tension, is paired with the tagline "The Hidden Truth -- The Final Wish," and it has drawn a wide response.

The anime The Apothecary Diaries is based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It is a major hit that has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines. Its mystery storylines, starring Maomao, who ends up working as a "poison taster" in the rear palace, and the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi made the series hugely popular and a big topic of conversation. Season 3 of the anime begins in October 2026 and will air in two split cours, together with a second part starting in April 2027. The first film in the series, The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure, is scheduled to open on December 11, 2026.

The released image gathers the series' cast together, starting with Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yuki) holding Mu Qing (voiced by Mariya Ise) in her arms, and Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Otsuka) staring straight ahead as if to protect them. Lihaku (voiced by Kenji Akabane) stands ready at the front line, and Lakan (voiced by Takuya Kirimoto) holds a pistol with a stern look. Each character wears a tense expression, and together with a mysterious presence, the visual is powerful, with a grand and enigmatic atmosphere fitting for a film.

In response to the post, fans flooded in with comments about how cool the characters look, including "Isn't this key visual way too good?" "I want the flyer," "Maomao looks so cool!!" "Wait, Jinshi is way too cool," "What?! Lakan is in the key visual, and he's super angry and holding a gun!!! What's going to happen...?" "Lakan Papa is so cool!!" "Lihaku... so cool." and "Everyone looks great and so cool." Another comment read, "I heard on the announcement special that a secret is hidden in this illustration, and I wonder if the faintly visible part is it... I have so much to theorize about!!"
