Viewers felt heartwarming emotions seeing the first-year students enjoying their time as ordinary students, with comments such as "I want to watch them forever," "Emotional," and "The first-years are so cute and lively." On the other hand, fans familiar with the original manga commented with words of deeper meaning, such as, "Anime-only viewers, please engrave the peaceful daily lives of the first-years in your memory," and "Thinking about future developments makes me cry. It will gradually turn into hell."
The currently streaming anime "Jujutsu Kaisen" is based on the manga of the same name by Gege Akutami, which has sold over 100 million copies in the series. The story depicts battles between "curses" born from human negative emotions and the sorcerers who exorcise them through jujutsu. The narrative takes a big turn when Yuji Itadori, who shares his body with the "King of Curses" Ryomen Sukuna, transfers to the "Jujutsu High School," a specialized institution for curses.
The first season of the TV anime, which started in October 2020, received significant acclaim not only in Japan but worldwide. In the anime's second season, aired from July to December 2023, the story of the "strongest jujutsu sorcerer" Satoru Gojo (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura) and the "worst curse user" Suguru Geto (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai) during their high school years, "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death," and the continuation of the timeline from the first season, "Shibuya Incident," were depicted. The production of the sequel "Culling Game" is also underway, and on May 30, 2025, the "Jujutsu Kaisen Theatrical Compilation Movie: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" will be released.
