Viewers were captivated by the clash between these powerful beings, with comments like "It's like a kaiju battle. The scale of the fight is on a different level," "This is too much of an ultimate showdown," "What the hell is this?!," and "It feels like the world's ending with this momentum and visuals." The animation, expressed with a quality that doesn't seem like it belongs to a TV anime, also drew reactions such as "The dynamic fight scenes on a wide screen make it feel like I'm watching a movie," "It really feels like I'm watching a movie," "The best animation for the worst scenario," and "The movement is so intense I can hardly keep up," creating a buzz online.
The currently airing anime "Jujutsu Kaisen" is based on the manga of the same name by Gege Akutami, which has exceeded 100 million copies in total circulation. The story depicts the battle between "curses," which are born from the negative emotions of humans, and the sorcerers who exorcise them using jujutsu. It starts to unfold significantly when Yuji Itadori (voiced by Junya Enoki), who shares his body with the "King of Curses" Ryomen Sukuna, transfers to the "Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College," a specialized institution for fighting curses.
The first season of the TV anime, which began in October 2020, received a huge response not only in Japan but also worldwide. The second season, which aired from July to December 2023, featured the story of "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death," focusing on the high school days of the "strongest jujutsu sorcerer" Satoru Gojo (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura) and the "most malevolent curse user" Suguru Geto (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai), as well as the "Shibuya Incident," which continues the storyline from the first season. The production of the sequel "Culling Game" is also underway. Additionally, on May 30, 2025, the "Jujutsu Kaisen Movie Compilation: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" will be released in theaters.
