The anime "The Apothecary Diaries" is based on a light novel by Natsu Hyuga, which has sold a total of 40 million copies (including the comic version). The protagonist is a girl named Maomao who used to be an apothecary in the pleasure district. She ends up working as a "poison taster" in the inner palace and solves mysteries together with Jinshi. The second season has been airing since January 2025.
