The dignified great mage Serie (voiced by Mariya Ise) was made to show an adorable "that face" by Fern (voiced by Kana Ichinose). In a way, Fern might be invincible...! In the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," there's a scene where Serie's expression, filled with exasperation at Fern, drew attention.

Fern, having completed the final exam of the First-Class Mage Test, was informed of her successful passing by Serie. Becoming a First-Class Mage grants one the privilege to receive any desired magic from Serie, referred to as the "Living Grimoire." For many mages, this privilege is the greatest allure of becoming a First-Class Mage, as it allows them to acquire legendary-level magic if they wish.

In such a rare opportunity, what Fern chose was a "magic to cleanly and thoroughly remove stains from clothes." This magic is supposedly "a legendary-level magic said to have existed in the age of myths." However, Serie seemed unable to accept being asked for such a mundane, "trivial" magic filled with everyday practicality.

Handing over the grimoire to Fern, who showed not a hint of ambition, Serie, with a "really displeased face," said, "Are you sane...?" This expression was uncannily similar to the "droopy face" that Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki), also an elf, occasionally shows.
