Currently streaming all at once, the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is based on a manga of the same name written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, serialized in "Weekly Shōnen Sunday." Set in a world after the demon king has been defeated, the story follows the elf mage Frieren, who has lived for over a thousand years, on a journey to "learn about people" with her apprentice Fern and the warrior Stark (voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi).
The original manga has received overwhelming support and acclaim, winning numerous awards and surpassing 24 million copies in circulation with 13 volumes published so far. The TV anime, which aired from September 2023 to March 2024, became a massive hit, with related words trending on X (formerly Twitter) after each episode aired. The second season of the anime is set to air in January 2026.
