It wasn't just the students who were captivated by Tsukasa's skating. The viewers also praised him, saying things like "I'm falling for this!", "Our Tsukasa... The anime "Medalist" is based on a manga series currently being serialized in the monthly men's manga magazine "Afternoon" (Kodansha), written by Tsurumaikada. The original manga has been awarded first prize in the comics division of the "Next Manga Awards 2022", as well as winning other awards such as the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category and the 48th Kodansha Manga Award in the comprehensive category. The story follows a young girl, Inori Yuitsuka, who yearns for the world of figure skating, and a young man, Tsukasa Akeuraji, a former figure skater who becomes her coach, as they team up to aim for the title of medalist.
