New Anime "THE GHOST IN THE SHELL" Main Staff & Second Teaser Released! Comments from Original Author Shirow Masamune Also Revealed

The latest in the "Ghost in the Shell" series, the TV anime "THE GHOST IN THE SHELL," is set to air in 2026. Alongside this announcement, the main staff information, the second teaser video, the second teaser visual, and comments from the original author, Shirow Masamune, have been revealed all at once.

Since Shirow Masamune published the original comic in "Young Magazine Kaizokuban" (Kodansha) in 1989, the series has expanded into various adaptations, including the 1995 film "Ghost in the Shell" directed by Mamoru Oshii, animation, and Hollywood live-action movies. The new project, which was announced as "Ghost in the Shell (Tentative)" at last year's 35th-anniversary event of the original work, is now officially progressing with the title "THE GHOST IN THE SHELL." Like the first volume of the original comic, the title will include "THE."

The director is Mokochan, who has worked on many projects with Science SARU, including serving as assistant director and storyboard/ending animation director for the TV anime "DAN DA DAN," and who will be making her directorial debut with this work.

The series composition and script will be handled by EnJoe Toh, a science fiction novelist known for works such as "Self-Reference ENGINE," "Mojiuzu," and "Code Buddha," as well as for his role in series composition and script for the TV anime "Godzilla Singular Point." He has also contributed a piece titled "Shadow.net" to the "Ghost in the Shell" novel anthology.

Handling character design and chief animation direction is Shuhei Handa, known for his work on character design for the Netflix series "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off," the TV anime "Spriggan," and "Little Witch Academia."

Animation production will be carried out by Science SARU, which has received numerous awards for projects such as the film "Inu-Oh," "Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!," and "Your Color." Their works, including the TV anime "DAN DA DAN," have been highly acclaimed both domestically and internationally.
