[Synopsis]
Reiko takes on the case of the murder of Kinue Kodama, the president of a real estate company. She tries to get to the truth from various fragments such as an erased dying message, a trophy used as a weapon, and the strings of a cut string curtain. However, with no decisive evidence, the word "cold case" almost pops into Reiko's mind. Reiko and Inspector Kazamatsuri reexamine the alibis of the suspect family members, but still cannot reach the truth. There, the sarcastic butler Kageyama offers a lifeline. When Reiko explains the details of the case to Kageyama, he snorts triumphantly and provides a clue that gets closer to the truth. Kageyama tells Reiko, "Focusing on alibis is missing the point." While all suspects have motives for murder, the key to cornering the real culprit lies in a photograph important to Kinue. Reiko and Kazamatsuri set a trap for the culprit and finally corner them. What are Kinue's true feelings hidden behind apparent strength, and what is the tragic outcome brought about by the chain of revenge?
