Captivating with Makeup-Intensive Cosplay: Showcasing the Unique World of 'Tokyo Ghoul'

—— It seems you have a strong attachment not only to Ken Kaneki but to 'Tokyo Ghoul' itself as well. When did you first encounter the work?

Ryune: I first encountered 'Tokyo Ghoul' when I was in middle school. Back then, I had a very quiet personality and found it difficult to talk to people other than my parents. I wanted to express and speak up for myself, but my personality made it scary for me. Maybe due to my personality, my only friend who advanced to the same junior high school with me also drifted away, leading to a complicated junior high school life.

During that time, I came across anime and discovered 'Tokyo Ghoul'. Although I wasn't fond of grotesque anime at the time, I felt a connection with Ken Kaneki, as he seemed similar to my past self.

In the work, Ken Kaneki is an incomplete person and is in a complex environment at the beginning. This intrigued me, and I was drawn into the world of 'Tokyo Ghoul'. I felt that no matter how incomplete or lonely one is, there are ways of living and happiness for everyone, which I think is the big charm of 'Tokyo Ghoul'. To sum it up, it's a truly great work (laughs).

Ryune: I intend to continue doing various cosplays in the future. My dream and goal are to express myself on stage at some event.

I focus on dark characters from Heisei-era anime, but I also cosplay mobile games and Vocaloids. I hope to convey the charm of the works, characters, and cosplay through my cosplays to as many people as possible, and I wish for as many people as possible to view and resonate with my work.
