Even Though He Was So Worried... Hachiware Nearly Late for Chiikawa's Exam Results, the Reason Was Surprisingly a "Sunfish"

In episode 109 of the anime "Chiikawa," Hachiware (voiced by Makoto Tanaka) is shown arriving late to the announcement of Chiikawa's (voiced by Haruka Aoki) "Grass Picking Certification Level 5" exam results, with the reason revealed to be a "sunfish."

In episode 108, Hachiware was shown praying for Chiikawa's success late into the night. Episode 109 begins with Hachiware desperately running to make it to the important results announcement. Why would Hachiware, who had been constantly thinking about Chiikawa, be late?

The reason was the flying sunfish that first appeared in episode 35 of "Chiikawa." Hachiware had attempted to travel to the venue riding on the sunfish, but as he explains to Chiikawa while catching his breath, "We ended up going somewhere completely different..."

This scene prompted comments such as "Hachiware taking a wrong turn on a sunfish just to see the results announcement together seems even more nervous than Chiikawa" and "Seeing Hachiware running desperately to avoid being late is so earnest and cute."
