"Chiikawa" is a popular manga that illustrator Nagano began serializing on X (formerly Twitter) in 2020. It won the Grand Prix at both the "Japan Character Award 2022" and the "Japan Character Award 2024" announced in July 2024. The gap between the tiny, cute characters and the severe world view has earned popularity across a wide age range from adults to children, with the follower count now exceeding 3.94 million.

The anime version of "Chiikawa" currently airs on Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV" every Tuesday and Friday around 7:40 AM. From April 2025, new episodes will be suspended for about three months, during which time particularly popular past episodes will be broadcast as revival episodes. Additionally, "Chiikawa's" first smartphone app, "Chiikawa Pocket," was released on March 27 in 43 countries and regions including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the United States. The app has surpassed 3 million downloads.
