[Photos/Images] More Important Than Battle: Frieren's Adorable Embarrassment When Fern Points Out Her Weakness in "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" 1st

Even a skilled magician has embarrassing weaknesses they'd rather keep hidden! In the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," when her pupil points out her weakness and she shyly fidgets, Frieren appears far too cute to be someone who's lived for over 1,000 years with such prowess.

Frieren and 17 other magicians were taking on the second phase of the First-Class Mage Selection Exam. Just as the examinees were approaching the deepest part of the dungeon, they faced the final challenge: copies of themselves. These duplicates perfectly replicated each person's magic and skills, with Frieren's duplicate being the most troublesome enemy.

Fern (voiced by Kana Ichinose), Frieren's pupil, upon hearing that the duplicate copies her perfectly, begins to ponder. She then declares with certainty that "the weaknesses due to behavioral patterns are likely the same as the original," suggesting a chance of victory.

Fern considers Frieren's weakness to be "a momentary lapse in magic detection at the exact moment of casting a spell." Though this is said to be a mistake typical of novice magicians, Frieren replies without remorse, "I've never been good at it since long ago." When Fern presses, "If you're aware of it, why didn't you tell us?" Frieren shyly replies, "Because it's embarrassing..." Her face drooping like a wilted flower, which Fern finds exasperating with a "Is this really the time for embarrassment?"
