A Shower Scene That Sends Chills No Matter How Many Times You Watch… Unique Direction in the “Jujutsu Kaisen” Anime Deepens Suguru Geto’s Despair

In episode 29 of the “Jujutsu Kaisen” anime, the series beautifully enhanced one of the manga’s most memorable scenes with an expressive depiction unique to animation. By shifting the sound of shower water in line with the dark emotions of Suguru Geto (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai), the direction sent shivers down many fans’ spines, with many saying it was “mentally intense.”

The “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” arc in the “Jujutsu Kaisen” anime reveals the past of Satoru Gojo (voiced by Yūichi Nakamura), the most powerful jujutsu sorcerer, and Suguru Geto, the most dangerous curse user, who were once classmates at Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Geto and Gojo were tasked with protecting Riko Amanai (voiced by Anna Nagase), a girl destined to merge with Master Tengen. However, in the end, Riko was killed. Until that point, Getou had adhered to the principle that “jujutsu exists to protect non-sorcerers.” However, after witnessing the disturbing scene of religious followers of the Star Religious Group, who wished to prevent the merger with Tengen, celebrating Riko’s death, Geto began to struggle internally.

While taking a shower, Geto repeatedly told himself, “What I saw was nothing unusual, just well-known ugliness. Even knowing that, I chose to save people as a jujutsu sorcerer. Don’t stray from your path. Fulfill your responsibility as a sorcerer.” However, the images of the cultists’ smiling faces resurfaced in his mind, and the sound of the shower began to overlap with the unsettling sound of their applause.
