In episode 24, the Black Tri-Stars attempted to finish off Amuro Ray (CV: Toru Furuya) with their "Jet Stream Attack". Moving in a single vertical line with three Doms, they tried to unleash consecutive attacks, but amazingly, Amuro used the first Dom as a stepping stone to evade the initial strike. While Gaia exclaimed in surprise, "He used me as a stepping stone!?", Amuro shot down the next Dom. In the end, the Black Tri-Stars were completely wiped out.
These Black Tri-Stars have been revived in the Reiwa era in "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", the latest work in the "Gundam" series, with an entirely new voice cast. In "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", which features a parallel world story to "Mobile Suit Gundam", Mash has apparently switched careers to become a politician and even risen to the position of mayor. Meanwhile, Gaia (CV: Yoji Ueda) and Ortega (CV: Kenji Hamada) work as mere junk dealers, participating in illegal mobile suit gambling matches called "Clan Battles".
Due to Mash's absence, Gaia and Ortega attempted a two-machine "Jet Stream Attack", but were soundly defeated. Gaia lamented, "Damn...! If only Mash were here...!" If only Mash had been there, would the outcome of the battle in "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" have been different? Or would the first machine still end up being used as a stepping stone? It was an episode that sparked the imagination.
The currently streaming anime "Mobile Suit Gundam" is a robot anime produced by Sunrise that aired from April 1979 to January 1980, directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino. It pioneered the new genre of "real robot anime" and had a tremendous influence on subsequent robot anime. While viewership ratings were poor during its original broadcast, popularity surged with reruns and theatrical releases, giving birth to the "Gunpla" boom. Many subsequent Gundam series and derivative works including spin-offs have been produced, and it continues to enjoy high popularity today. The new anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" has been airing since April 2025.
