However, before reaching an answer, she abruptly says, “Okay, let’s put this aside for now,” and simply abandons the train of thought.

This unexpected abandonment of her deduction sparked a flurry of commentary online, such as, “She just dropped it lol,” “You thought that far!?,” “She gave up thinking, lol,” and “She was so close to the answer.”

“The Apothecary Diaries” anime is based on the light novel by Hyuganatsu. It has also been adapted into a manga, and the series has surpassed 40 million copies in total circulation. The story is a mystery-solving entertainment drama in which Maomao, the apothecary’s daughter with an abnormal obsession with poisons and medicines, and the enigmatic, beautiful eunuch Jinshi tackle difficult cases that arise within the imperial court.

[Synopsis]
The warehouse that Maomao and Kyou-u infiltrated was a workshop for Feifa, the location where Jinshi had previously been attacked during a hunt. There, the two are discovered by Shenmei, a cold-hearted woman who arrives with one of the special emissaries, Ayla. Although they manage to escape punishment, Maomao is imprisoned in a “fortress” surrounded by snow and sturdy walls. With its formidable walls and a stockpile of Feifa munitions, Maomao realizes she has been caught up in a major incident that could shake the very foundations of the country.
