Despite being imprisoned and facing the crisis of impending war, Maomao gets wildly excited over the medical texts left behind by a fellow apothecary, exclaiming "Ahaha! Hehe! Uhihihi"—the unflappable Maomao in "The Apothecary Diaries" Episode 44

In episode 44 of the anime "The Apothecary Diaries," which began airing sequentially from May 30, Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yūki) finds herself imprisoned. However, when Maomao discovers medical books left behind by a previous apothecary, she becomes hyper-energetic, prompting viewers to burst out laughing with comments like "That laugh, lol!" and "All the seriousness just flew out the window."

Maomao, who had been spirited away by Suirei (voiced by Kaori Nazuka) from the inner palace to a hidden village deep in the forest, is caught by Shenmei (voiced by Rica Fukami) after sneaking into a warehouse in episode 44, "The Fortress." As a result, Maomao is imprisoned within a “fortress” surrounded by snow and robust stone walls. Meanwhile, back at the inner palace, Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka) and his allies suspect that Shishou (voiced by Chō), a powerful and influential minister, is secretly expanding the fortress in preparation for a rebellion.

Yet, despite being in such a dire situation, Maomao is overjoyed to find the books left behind by a previous apothecary in her place of confinement. Eyes sparkling as she calls them "a treasure mountain!", she gleefully begins rifling through the texts, exclaiming, "Ahaha! Hehe! Uhihihi..."
