Currently, "The Apothecary Diaries," which is available for streaming in a marathon format, is an anime adaptation of the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It has also been adapted into manga form in two monthly magazines, and the series has surpassed 40 million copies in total circulation. The TV anime began its consecutive two-cour broadcast in October 2023 and drew wide attention for its engaging mysteries solved by Maomao, who works as a poison tester in the inner palace, as well as the comedic exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi. The second season of the anime is airing as of January 2025.
