Open Press Conference Comments
◆Shoyo Hinata (Raimu Ninomiya)
I would be delighted if I can deliver my beloved "Haikyu!!" to the people in China who also love "Haikyu!!." I think that acting, like volleyball, is about "connecting." I hope to carry on the thoughts of all the people who have been involved in the previous productions of Engeki: Haikyu!!, in the Haikyu!! company, and all the works that have been performed up until now, and to enjoy it together. While Hinata crosses mountains on his bicycle, Hyper Projection Engeki: Haikyu!! will cross over the sea! Please support us.
◆Tobio Kageyama (Shoa Hara)
I love "Haikyu!!," and I've read the original manga many times, so I was extremely happy when I found out I would be playing Tobio Kageyama. Being able to play Tobio Kageyama is an incredibly valuable opportunity. Together with Kageyama, I'll give my all and work hard with dedication! Thank you for your support.
◆Toru Oikawa (Yasunari Fujibayashi)
I am truly honored to be able to play Toru Oikawa once again after previously performing as him in the Haikyu!! company. Thinking back to when I performed with the Haikyu!! company and when I first auditioned, I will do my best to apply everything I've learned so far to Hyper Projection Engeki: Haikyu!!. I hope to enjoy the differences between Engeki: Haikyu!! and the Haikyu!! company productions, and to deliver the world of "Haikyu!!" to as many people as possible. Thank you.
◆Hajime Iwaizumi (Ren Suzuki)
I’m truly happy to be involved with "Haikyu!!," a work that continues to be so beloved, following my experience with the Haikyu!! company. I look forward to sharing Engeki: Haikyu!! with the audience in China. Through this stage play, I hope I can convey the greatness of "Haikyu!!" and of live theater. I will do my very best, so please support us.
◆Kenta Suga
For three and a half years, I have appeared in 256 performances of Hyper Projection Engeki: Haikyu!!, and I am more than anything else happy that, by restaging the original performance, the production is returning to its roots, and everyone is building it up anew from the start.
It has been ten years since the first performance of Hyper Projection Engeki: Haikyu!!. There have been many things, and not all of them may have been fun or happy. But I believe we are able to be here today because everyone has kept "connecting" all this time. That’s something everyone in this company feels, and this performance is the next step into a new world we are all connected to. Please cheer them on.
◆Riki Azuma, Weekly Shonen Jump Editorial Department, Shueisha
"Haikyu!!" is currently very popular throughout Asia, with events such as last summer's anime event in Shanghai, attended by about ten thousand people. We have also received many requests from Chinese fans wanting to see Hyper Projection Engeki: Haikyu!! performed live. Since it’s such an excellent stage production, we decided to hold a China tour so that more people can enjoy it. This will be the largest-scale overseas stage performance ever featured in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. I hope everyone looks forward to it.
◆Shoko Nogami, President & CEO, Nelke Planning
For this production’s main visual, the concept that everyone connects with a single volleyball is depicted by everyone facing the same direction. And the round design behind the Hyper Projection Engeki: Haikyu!! logo is, of course, modeled after a volleyball, but also represents the idea of moving out into the world.
Standing on this stage today, seeing so many people gathered who have something they love and can openly say they love it, reminded me again how happy that makes me. I hope to bring this happiness to China and to share it with everyone there as well.
