The "Handsome Privilege" Doesn't Work on Maomao... In "The Apothecary Diaries," Maomao Thoroughly Rejects Jinshi's Over-the-Top Physical Affection

Just because you're handsome doesn't mean you can get away with anything! In episode 10 of the anime The Apothecary Diaries, Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka), who is used to being fawned over by women, tries to engage in excessive physical affection by scooping up honey with his finger and attempting to have Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yūki) lick it.

Jinshi, a man of extraordinary beauty, is said to be so attractive that, were he a woman, he could even charm a monarch to ruin—an almost legendary beauty. Naturally, he is constantly doted upon by women, but Maomao shows absolutely no interest in his appearance. Perhaps Jinshi finds this reaction amusing, as it has become a regular occurrence for him to tease Maomao and be coldly rebuffed.

In episode 10 as well, Jinshi continues to tease Maomao. When Maomao comes to report the results of an investigation, Jinshi compliments her by saying, "That’s a passing grade." Then, for some reason, he approaches Maomao holding a jar of honey and says, "Good girls deserve a reward, you know."

Sensing danger, Maomao backs away, saying, "I'll pass," but Jinshi presses closer and actually tries to make Maomao lick honey from his finger. Maomao begins to tremble and cries out internally, "This guy really thinks he can get away with anything just because he has a nice face!" and "Come to think of it, he is exactly that kind of pervert."
