[Photos/Images] Maomao at Last Learns Jinshi’s True Identity—Her First Words Have Viewers in Stitches: “So Typical of Maomao, I Love It LOL” —The Apothecary Diaries, Episode 46 1st

In episode 46 of the anime The Apothecary Diaries, which began airing sequentially from June 13, Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yūki) finally learns the true identity of Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka). Her characteristically Maomao-like reaction once again drew laughter from the viewers, prompting comments like “That’s so her, LOL.”

Until now, Jinshi had been pretending to be a 25-year-old eunuch of low standing. However, in episode 46, titled “The Imperial Guard,” he reveals his true identity as the Emperor’s younger brother, Kazuigetsu, in order to command the Imperial Guard to subdue Shishou (voiced by Chō), the powerful prime minister suspected of plotting a rebellion.

Meanwhile, having been whisked away from the inner palace by Suirei (voiced by Kaori Nazuka) and subsequently going missing, Maomao found herself at the fortress where Shishou was located. Jinshi, leading his troops, eventually arrived at the fortress and discovered Maomao. At that moment, one of Jinshi’s subordinates appeared and called him “Crown Prince.”

Jinshi replied that he is no longer the Crown Prince, but this exchange allowed Maomao to fully grasp Jinshi’s true identity. Remembering that the Emperor’s younger brother is 19 years old and that Jinshi, who has claimed to be 25, was not of matching age, Maomao commented, “Jinshi-sama, you look old for your age.”

The internet quickly buzzed about Maomao’s reaction, with responses such as “That ‘he looks old’ comment was classic,” “I love how totally Maomao that was, LOL,” and “As expected of Maomao, LOL.”
