The Apothecary Diaries anime is based on the light novel series by Natsu Hyuuga. It has also been adapted into manga form, with the total series surpassing 40 million copies sold. A mystery-solving entertainment set in the imperial court, it follows Maomao, an apothecary’s daughter with an abnormal obsession with poisons and medicines, and Jinshi, a mysterious and beautiful eunuch, as they take on baffling incidents in the palace.

[Synopsis]
Loulan sets fire to the gunpowder storehouse, enveloping the fortress in flames. Maomao, having reunited with Loulan, learns about the past she carries and her inner struggles. Maomao tries her best to persuade her to stay, but as Loulan insists on doing what she must, she heads toward Shenmei, while Maomao at least promises “a certain something.” Meanwhile, the Imperial Guard, the Emperor’s direct troops, are approaching the fortress. Leading them is Jinshi, clad in purple armor. The battle to subdue the Shi clan is about to begin.
