Enchanted by the Fingers Running Through Her Hair... But Only for a Moment! Jinshi, Who Is Always Smiling in "The Apothecary Diaries," Quietly Loses His Temper

Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka), who is usually engaged in comical banter with Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yūki), is far more terrifying when he gets seriously angry than anyone imagined. In episode 38 of the anime "The Apothecary Diaries," even Maomao seemed taken aback by the forcefulness with which Jinshi cautioned the former head lady-in-waiting (voiced by Hitomi Nabatame).

In episode 38, Maomao and Jinshi receive a request from Lishu (voiced by Hina Kino), an upper consort, and investigate the bathhouse. Lishu, who became an imperial consort at a young age, is neglected by some of her ladies-in-waiting. The former head lady-in-waiting took away a mirror that Lishu cherished, saying, "Since you have received a mirror from the special envoy, you don't need this one anymore, do you? Why not bestow it on someone else?"

Jinshi, in a gentle tone, admonished the former head lady-in-waiting, saying, "That mirror is important to Consort Lishu. Isn't it inappropriate to take it without confirming its significance with her?" Captivated by a smile from the exceptionally handsome Jinshi, the former head lady-in-waiting involuntarily showed an enchanted expression. Then Jinshi reached for her hair and touched her hairpin, remarking, "Was this also something that was bestowed upon you?"

It seems the hair ornament worn by the former head lady-in-waiting is originally something that belongs to an upper consort. Jinshi coldly declared, "Even if it had been bestowed on you, did you not consider it unfitting for an ordinary lady-in-waiting to wear an item bearing the crest of an upper consort?" He glared at her. As Jinshi turned to leave, saying, "From now on, I expect you to refrain from behavior that is inappropriate for your position," Maomao could only give a wry, nervous smile, thinking, "That’s scary..."
