Currently being streamed in one go, the anime "The Apothecary Diaries" is based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. The story has also been adapted as a manga in two monthly magazines, and the total series circulation has surpassed 40 million copies. The TV anime aired two consecutive cours starting in October 2023, and became a major topic of conversation thanks to the mysteries solved by Maomao, who works as a poison tester in the inner palace, as well as the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi. The second season of the anime is now airing as of January 2025.
