In Episode 48 of the anime "The Apothecary Diaries," which began airing sequentially on July 4, Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yūki) says a certain line to Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka), who has received a scar on his face. This garnered widespread attention online, with viewers commenting, "That really hit home," and "I absolutely love that line."

Jinshi received a scar on his face after agreeing to the wish of Lady Shisui, also known as Loulan Consort (voiced by Asami Seto). In Episode 48, titled "Beginning," which marks the Season 2 finale, Jinshi asks Maomao, "Am I a man whose worth is lost with a single scar? Am I merely a facade valued only for my looks?" In response, Maomao shook her head and replied, "If anything, perhaps a few more scars might suit you." She continued, "You are too beautiful, Jinshi-sama. Because of that, those around you become unsettled and focus only on your appearance. But the essence of Jinshi-sama is not as flashy as your looks—it's far more sincere. That is probably worth much more than your outward beauty." When Maomao smiled and said, "You've become even more handsome than before, haven't you?" Jinshi was left momentarily speechless.
