Jinshi, Once Again Interrupted in an Attempted Kiss in the Season 2 Finale… Despite a Romantic Mood, “Why Does Something Always Get in the Way?” Anime “The Apothecary Diaries”

In Episode 48 of the anime “The Apothecary Diaries,” currently airing from July 4, Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka) once again tries to kiss Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yūki), but is thwarted yet again… This familiar turn of events leaves Jinshi genuinely frustrated, and viewers online couldn’t help but laugh, with comments such as “Not again, lol” and “He’s really so pitiful, lol” proliferating.

Jinshi has approached Maomao several times before, but every time, something has interfered and ruined the moment. In Episode 48, titled “Beginning,” which serves as the Season 2 finale, Maomao closely examines the stitches from Jinshi's wound and admires them, saying, “It's really beautiful after all.” When Jinshi finds himself the object of Maomao’s gaze, he lifts her chin gently and shifts into a position to kiss her, asking, “Are you storing up poison too?”

Just when it seemed like the kiss might finally succeed in the finale, Kyou-u (voiced by Natsumi Fujiwara) bursts energetically into the room. Startled, Jinshi moves away from Maomao, looking frustrated as he complains, “Why does something always get in the way?”
