“The Summer Hikaru Died” is based on the popular manga by Mokumokuren, which has surpassed 3.5 million copies in total circulation. It tells a coming-of-age horror story about the high school student Yoshiki Tsujinaka and the “something” wearing the form of his childhood friend Hikaru Indou.
