After Just One Viewing: “It Pierced My Heart,” “I’m Getting Addicted,” “Gundam GQuuuuuuX” OP — Cheers for the Green Old Man Running Among the Youth

Now that the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX has concluded, fans are looking back on the opening animation first revealed in Episode 2. Among all the scenes, the one that captured the most attention was the “green old man”—Challia Bull—making a dash.

Challia Bull originally appeared as a supporting character in Episode 39 of the anime Mobile Suit Gundam. He was only present for that single episode. Yet, in this latest Reiwa-era installment, he makes a full-fledged return. What’s more, he’s running in an earnest forward-leaning pose alongside the younger characters such as protagonist Amate Yuzuriha (nicknamed Machu).

This utterly unexpected direction prompted an immediate reaction across social media. Comments flooded in, such as “Challia Bull’s run shot straight through my heart,” “I never imagined a first-series character would reappear in such a prominent way!” and “Challia Bull running in the OP is just too cute!”
