The excellent compatibility between visuals and music also became a hot topic. Set to the OP theme “Plazma” by Kenshi Yonezu, the scene where all the characters take off running leaves a strong impression both visually and rhythmically. Within this, Challia Bull’s presence—with casting and direction no one saw coming—struck a special chord with longtime fans. It’s no wonder so many were surprised, wondering, “If he’s among this cast lineup… is he a main character now!?”

Originally, Challia Bull was characterized by a quiet, calm demeanor, but here, he is revived across generations as a dynamic and active character. This vibrant rediscovery may well have been the first “bold move” that Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX showcased.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the latest installment in the Mobile Suit Gundam series, which began in 1979. The story follows high school girl Amate Yuzuriha (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa), who leads a peaceful life in a space colony until she meets the mysterious girl Nyaan (voiced by Yui Ishikawa) and gets drawn into the illegal Mobile Suit dueling competition known as “Clan Battle.” Buzz has grown from the joint production by Studio Khara, known for the Rebuild of Evangelion series, and Sunrise, and the theatrical version—which premiered ahead of the TV broadcast in January this year—became a major box-office hit with approximately 3.4 billion yen in revenue. From June 20 onward, it is being re-released in 368 theaters nationwide.
