"Teogonia" is a dark fantasy set in a world where continuous wars break out between humans and demi-humans invading human lands. The story depicts the harsh battles and growth of the young protagonist Kai, who awakens to memories of his previous life. Known for its narrative of Kai’s development from a mere foot soldier and its serious worldview, the anime is now just two episodes away from its finale. During the program, the cast reflected on the story so far, along with their favorite scenes featuring their respective characters.
First, Masaya Fukunishi, who plays Manso—the elder brother figure who fights alongside Kai—chose the scene in Episode 1 where Manso, in order to increase the squad’s survival rate after being attacked by the Oug tribe, reluctantly leaves the injured Kai behind.
This scene, which introduced the anime’s serious progression and left a strong impression of the world’s harshness from the start, follows a moment where Kai and Manso discuss graves with no caretakers or mourners. Manso departs, leaving the line, “At least I'll come and pull the weeds from your grave.” Fukunishi commented, “Out of all Manso’s scenes, this is my favorite!” and “I really felt I could pour my feelings into that line.” Mutsumi Tamura, who voices Kai, was also struck by the line, exclaiming, “So that means Manso intends not to forget Kai, to take care of his grave, right?” and groaned, “Kuuu!” in admiration.
