Come Back, Jinshi! Jinshi’s Jaw Drops at the Breathtaking Transformation of Maomao in “The Apothecary Diaries”

In the anime "The Apothecary Diaries," it is utterly delightful to see Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka), who usually maintains a calm and composed attitude towards Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yūki), rendered speechless by Maomao’s stunning beauty.

Usually, Maomao draws freckles on her face and dresses plainly in order to avoid attracting male attention. However, in episode 5, Maomao dresses up for a garden party. Not only does she wear a dazzling outfit, but she also applies beautiful makeup, revealing an appearance so gorgeous that even Jinshi, the famously handsome eunuch, is left astonished.

Normally, Jinshi enjoys teasing Maomao and watching her reactions, but upon seeing her unfamiliar visage, he is struck speechless, his mouth agape in shock. When he finally regains his composure, he shyly gives her a hairpin—a token indicating she is his favorite—and blushes as he says, "Here."
