“You Don’t Have to Create a Character All By Yourself” — Minami Hinata, Yurina Amami, Aoi Koga, and Yoshino Aoyama Share Behind-the-Scenes Stories of Dubbing! [Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze]

The TV anime “Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze” is currently airing in sequence from July 9, 2025, on TOKYO MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, BS11, MBS, and more. Based on the manga of the same name serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday, this work tells the story of protagonist Yū Ayase, who comes to live in a mansion where the three Mikadono sisters—Kazuki, Niko, and Miwa—reside and gradually becomes part of their family.

We interviewed the main cast: Minami Hinata (as Yū Ayase), Yurina Amami (as Kazuki Mikadono), Aoi Koga (as Niko Mikadono), and Yoshino Aoyama (as Miwa Mikadono), asking about their experiences during the dubbing sessions and about memorable performances in Episode 1.

—Please tell us any stories from the dubbing sessions for this work. We heard there was quite a bit of ad-libbing as well.

Aoyama: There was definitely an atmosphere of “Let’s try to ad-lib as much as we can!” Masaya Matsukaze, who played the Mikadono father, really took the lead for us.

Koga: Even when Matsukaze-san’s scenes ended in Part A and he had no more appearances in Part B, he stayed to watch through to the end of Part B. After watching everything, he’d give us feedback like, “Wouldn’t it be better if you did it more like this here?” He was such an incredibly supportive senior.

Aoyama: Right from the start, he’d say things like, “Try adding this kind of ad-lib!” And it wasn’t just in the moment—he’d also say things after the take, like, “That was great.” We really appreciated his feedback.
