Amami: Here it comes, the “pei-pei” story!
—Was that scene an ad-lib?
Hinata: For that scene, the initial performance I brought was completely restructured with advice from the three here, the sound director, and Matsukaze-san.
—So that really connects to what you just mentioned.
Hinata: That’s right. At the time of Episode 1, I hadn’t broken out of my fixed idea of how the character should be, so I acted in a constrained way. But after getting everyone’s advice, I was able to do that “pei! pei!” performance.
Amami: Sometimes it sounded like “PayPay” (like the payment service sound), so it was hard to contain my laughter (laughs).
—By the way, what was the original performance like?
Amami: It was really more like a simple “hmm hmm!” sort of breathing sound.
Hinata: I just couldn’t break out of that at all.
Koga: It’s really hard to break out of it, isn’t it?
Aoyama: Once you decide on a performance and bring it in, it’s actually pretty tough to drastically change it. Even if you think you’re changing it, from an outside perspective, it might not seem that different. Acting really is deep and complex.
Hinata: For me, all of you would shift your performances based on just one piece of advice, and I was always like “Wow!” while watching every week.
