The anime "The Apothecary Diaries," currently available for binge-watching, is based on the light novel series of the same name by Hyuganatsu. The series has also been adapted into two monthly manga magazines, and its total circulation has surpassed 40 million copies. The TV anime first aired for two consecutive cours starting in October 2023, becoming a massive hit. The show gained popularity for its mystery-solving plot featuring Maomao, who works as a food taster in the rear palace, and the comedic interactions between her and Jinshi. A second season began airing in January 2025, and it was announced in July that a sequel is in production.
