“Every Line Hits Home,” “Flirty But Serious at Heart” — New Character Kyoya Oiranzaka (CV: Ryōhei Kimura) Captivates Viewers! Numerous Fans Smitten in Episode 5 of the Anime “Tougen Anki”

In episode 5 of the anime “Tougen Anki,” which began airing on August 8, Kyoya Oiranzaka (voiced by Ryōhei Kimura) makes his first appearance. Though Oiranzaka comes off as a “playboy,” he also shows a reliable side as the Support Unit’s General Commander. This combination of traits has many viewers saying things like, “I instantly became a fan,” and, “He’s flirty, but he’s sincere and kind at heart,” with countless hearts being stolen.

In Episode 5, titled “A Dangerous Guy,” Shiki Ichinose (voiced by Kazuki Ura) and his group visit the Kyoto branch of the Oni Agency, where they meet Oiranzaka for the first time, who is the Support Unit’s General Commander. As soon as Oiranzaka sees the female students, he gets excited: “No way! There are some cute girls here!” “Just give me your social media, for now!” Annoyed by this attitude, Shiki mutters, “What’s with this player?”

Just then, a unit member missing both arms and legs is brought to Oiranzaka. Possessing blood that, when transfused, enhances an oni's healing powers, Oiranzaka gently asks the team member, “Which would you like back, your arms or your legs?” When the team member replies he wants his arms so he can hug his child, Oiranzaka answers tenderly, “I’ll make sure you can hold them tight,” and infuses him with his blood, restoring both arms. He goes on to say with a smile, “I’ll get you the best prosthetic legs so you can run around with your kid,” and, “Let’s work hard on your rehab,” moving the team member to tears as he thanks Oiranzaka.

Afterward, Oiranzaka tells Shiki and the others proudly, “The front line isn’t the only battlefield. My job…the Support Unit’s job… is to do everything we can to help injured oni—right behind those fighting on the line. This is my battlefield.” Witnessing Oiranzaka’s work ethic firsthand, Shiki and his friends completely change their tune: “You’re seriously cool!” “I feel you! He might act flirty, but that was impressive.”
