Adorable Request Leaves Jinshi Flustered: What Maomao Asked for in "The Apothecary Diaries" Was, of Course, Medicine

Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yuki), who is usually cool, surprisingly entered "clingy mode" with Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Otsuka)! The final episode of the first season of the anime "The Apothecary Diaries" features a must-see comedic twist that initially seems like a romantic comedy...

Eunuch Jinshi is known for his stunning beauty, often said to be a "national treasure" if he were a woman. He charms everyone around him, regardless of gender, but Maomao keeps her interactions with him dry. Jinshi finds this "cold attitude" refreshing and frequently teases Maomao, only to be coolly dismissed.

In the 24th episode, the final of season one, Maomao's foot wound reopened, causing it to bleed after a dance performance. Concerned, Jinshi tried to carry Maomao "princess-style" back to the inner palace. While Maomao was flustered and asked, "What if someone sees us?", she suddenly became formal and said, "There's something I've been meaning to say for a long time."

With misty eyes, Maomao looked intently at Jinshi and continued, "It was something very important that I had to say." What could she possibly say next? As Jinshi, visibly nervous, listens, Maomao gently touched his cheek and said,"Please give me  ox bezoar."

Ox bezoar is a rare traditional Chinese medicine that Jinshi had previously promised to give her as a reward for her investigations. Whether due to being caught off guard, Jinshi, who was sweetly asked further, responded with a playful headbutt.
