When it comes to Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka) from the anime The Apothecary Diaries, most people likely picture him teasing Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yūki) in a playful manner. That’s exactly why his determined gaze as he carries the injured Maomao “princess-style” in Episode 19 left viewers breathless.

In Episode 19, after Maomao reinvestigated a past fire incident, she realized that danger was approaching a certain noble. With the help of Lakan (voiced by Takuya Kirimoto), who is both her biological father and a figure with whom she has a complicated past, she rushed to the festival scene. She managed to protect the noble from falling debris just in the nick of time, but in return, she suffered a serious injury herself.
