The anime series “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, the story follows Tanjirō Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons, as he embarks on a journey of revenge and redemption. The TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” which began broadcasting in April 2019, quickly became a hot topic. Its sequel, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train,” has surpassed a worldwide box office total of 50 billion yen. The original manga now boasts a worldwide cumulative circulation of 220 million copies, making it a record-breaking hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

Following the “Unwavering Resolve Arc” on TV, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc,” “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc,” and “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc” were broadcast. The trilogy “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle,” representing the series’ climax, was also announced. The first chapter, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle,” which has been screening since July 18, 2025, has already grossed over 25.7 billion yen within just one month of its release.
