The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. The story, set in the Taisho era, follows the battle of a boy, Tanjiro Kamado, who lost his family to demons. When the TV anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc began airing in April 2019, it immediately became a sensation. Its sequel, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train, surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. Today, the cumulative worldwide circulation of the manga has reached 220 million copies, making it a record-breaking hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.
Following the Unwavering Resolve Arc, the TV anime continued with the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc. It has also been announced that the final episodes, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle, will be produced as a trilogy. The first chapter, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle – Akaza's Return, which has been screening since July 18, 2025, has earned 28 billion yen at the box office within 38 days of release.
