The passionate awakening of Rokuro set the internet abuzz, with reactions such as “Rokuro’s Blood Erosion Release is just too cool,” “After watching episode 8 of Tougen Anki, I became a Rokuro fan,” and “I love it when a usually unreliable guy becomes really strong when he gets serious!”

“Tougen Anki” is based on a popular manga by Yura Urushibara, serialized in “Weekly Shonen Champion” (Akita Shoten). The new generation dark hero demon tale, inspired by the well-known Japanese folktale “Momotaro,” depicts the battle between those who inherit demon blood and those who inherit Momotaro blood. The story begins with Shiki Ichinose (voiced by Kazuki Ura), an ordinary boy living as a human, who suddenly comes under attack by a mysterious man from the “Momotaro Agency.”

Shiki and his friends are separated as they are attacked by Aguri. Kuina Sazanami uses her Blood Erosion Release to defeat one Aguri, but is then nearly killed by another that appears. Witnessing this scene, Rokuro Syujyutubara can only cower in fear, unable to do anything. Why is he so cowardly? He recalls his now-lost first love, Ruru. It was thanks to her that Rokuro could be strong, but now he feels that in his current state, he would not be able to face her confidently in heaven, so he resolves to fight. Meanwhile, Shiki, who escapes with Mei, also faces off against a different Aguri. However, Mei, believing that she will die just like her parents, has resigned herself to everything. To her, Shiki declares, “Fight against despair!” He hides Mei away and launches his own assault.
