I Thought It Was "Caterpillar Bread," But It Was "Steamed Sweet Potato Bread"... A Misunderstood Chiikawa and the Kind Hachiware in "Chiikawa"

In episode 125 of the anime "Chiikawa," Chiikawa (voiced by Haruka Aoki) mistakenly thought "imo-mushi pan" (steamed sweet potato bread) was "caterpillar bread" and expressed a desire not to eat it. After the misunderstanding was cleared up, the ever-kind Hachiware (voiced by Makoto Tanaka) invited Chiikawa, saying, "Yeah, let's eat, let's eat!"

While Chiikawa was drawing, Hachiware asked, "Hey, hey, hey, want some? 'Imomushi pan'?" Chiikawa misunderstood "imomushi pan" as "caterpillar" plus "bread," and shook their head in dislike.

Then Hachiware called out to Usagi (voiced by Ari Ozawa), "Well, shall we eat then?" Usagi stood up with great excitement, letting out a loud "Iiiiyaa-ha!" sound. What came out, however, was not "caterpillar bread" but "steamed sweet potato bread." As Hachiware and Usagi began eating deliciously, Chiikawa, having refused once, fidgeted shyly. Hachiware then kindly said, "Yeah, let's eat, let's eat," inviting Chiikawa again.

This scene drew numerous comments of praise for Hachiware, such as "Even after being refused once, acting like nothing happened... I want to be someone with the big heart of Hachiware" and "Hachiware really is so kind!" There were also voices supporting the misunderstood Chiikawa, saying, "I might misunderstand too," and "Neither Chiikawa nor Hachiware did anything wrong here."
