The “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons, and his struggle for revenge. The TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a sensation, and its sequel, “Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train” surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. Today, the total global circulation of the original manga has reached 220 million copies, establishing it as a landmark success in the history of Japanese manga and anime.

Following the “Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” the TV anime continued with the “Entertainment District Arc,” “Swordsmith Village Arc,” and “Hashira Training Arc.” The climactic episodes, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle,” are being produced as a trilogy. The first installment, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle Chapter 1—Akaza Returns,” which premiered on July 18, 2025, has recorded over 29.9 billion yen in box office revenue within just 45 days of release.
